Cynthia - California Thursday, July 21st 12:15 - 1:00

Well it looks like I am not the only one who has not walked and photographed for awhile. I have just been too busy (translated as too distracted) to walk. I would love to come back. Will you all join me. I have missed this terrific group.

I continue to carry my iPhone with me to take pictures. This is a terrific app called hipstamatic.

I love this bench under the shade of a big old tree. In the bottom corner you can see the natural rock fence. It looks like it has been there forever.

Lola thought it was about time I took her for a walk. She wanted to walk in every direction at once.

Cynthia - California 4:30-6:00 p.m.

Spending the weekend with my friends Susan and Tricia. We took a long walk in Palo Alto. Such a beautiful neighborhood with the most gorgeous houses.

Loved these chairs. It's like these chairs were left right where 3 people sat over from summer and not brought in yet for autumn and winter.
Walked to The Elizabeth Gamble gardens...not many flowers, but a scarecrow watched over new planting.
I liked all the vertical lines on this greenhouse.
We then stopped downtown at a small shop with these cute little felt kids shoes and then to Starbucks for coffee. Nice walking with friends.

Cynthia - California 10:30 to 11:15 a.m.

I have been so bad about walking lately. Decided to walk to the little neighborhood market this morning to pick up a few groceries.

There are still a few flowers blooming...but not many.
Walked by the neighborhood bulletin board. It's always fun to see what's going on.
Someone forgot to take in their slippers.
The little market does such a lovely job displaying their produce. This basket had a knitted lining. So very cool...and they have local produce which I always am happy about.
Such lush reds. How can one resist!

Cynthia - Las Vegas Sunday 9:00 - 10:00 a.m.

I was in Las Vegas this past weekend for the SITScation conference. We had a great time. Such a fun, generous, friendly group of women bloggers. Sunday morning I wanted to get in a Creatively Fit walk along the strip. Above is where I started at the Venetian hotel. We had spectacular rooms. To see more of the amazing Venetian, I have photos posted here.
There sure are a lot of statues in Vegas!

So many spectacular hotels with lots and lots of fountains.
Of course I could not miss the Vegas Eiffel Tower. It was a nice long walk, early enough on Sunday morning that all of the Saturday night party folks weren't up and out yet. And a good way to spend my morning before catching my flight home. (All photos taken with my iPhone and an iPhone polaroid app.)

Cynthia - California

I haven't got a walk in yet this week. But I wanted to ask if any of you are going to SITScation in Las Vegas this weekend. If you are how about a Creatively Fit walk Sunday morning?

Cynthia - California, Road Trip To Oregon

Walking On Our Road Trip To Oregon
We've been on vacation and I haven't posted for awhile, but I did get some great walks in while we traveled. We walked along the bluffs of the Willamette River. We also stopped several times while traveling east on the Washington side of the Columbia River. Once we walked along a floating dock and once in a state park on a path out and along the Columbia.
When we drove back west along the Oregon side of the Columbia River, we stopped at the Multnomah Falls and hiked up to the bridge. From the bridge I looked down and found one of those hearts that nature makes.
Portland has wonderful public transportation including a cute little trolley. However it is a great walking city and I walked all over it visiting The Classical Chinese Garden, The Portland Rose Garden, The Japanese Gardens, the cute neighborhoods with wonderful Victorian and Craftsman houses and of course lots of trendy little shops and restaurants.

Cynthia - California 10:30-11:10 A.M.

I spent the weekend down in San Jose and the Santa Cruz area this weekend. On the way home I decided to stop at one on my favorite places to walk - The Elizabeth Gamble Gardens. It's near Stanford and is a beautiful area to walk and get inspiration for my own little garden.
I played around with my iPhone Quad Camera app a bit.
But, mostly took pictures with my Canon. I love this old oak tree. The picnic bench nearby is a perfect place to sit, drink a cup of coffee and just think.
There were lots and lots of blooming dahlias.

Cynthia - California 5:15 - 6:00 p.m.

Decided to get a walk in this evening by walking to the little neighborhood grocery store. I feel kind of guilty as I didn't take Lola.
Love love love watermelons. This year I discovered the seedless kind.
Lots of gardens full of cosmos. They are beginning to look a little sad. They peaked in August, but still a few lovely blossoms.
???I have no idea why these neighbors collect fire hydrants. They are a very friendly elderly couple who always make a fuss about Lola when we walk by. Some day I will ask them. Maybe he is a retired fireman?
Don't sunflowers just say end of summer, autumn is on the way?

Cynthia - California 10:30 - 11:15

I am late ... really late in posting. It's been one of those weeks. Lola was waiting patiently for her walk this morning. I grabbed her leash (which made her very happy) and my iPhone and off we went.
Lola stopped to sniff all of the recently planted fall flowers along the way. While I played with my iPhone Quad app.
I often pass this old stone wall around a great old house. This picture was taken with my iPhone Polaroid app. Hope you all are having a great walk today.

Cynthia - California 9:15 - 10:00

It's a beautiful morning for a walk. Lola (my dog) and I headed out again in the neighborhood. We were out for 45 minutes - but there were two stops at garage sales. When I first saw the duck I thought it was a toy, then I realized it was the sprinkler. I would love to see it in action.
I see a few signs of fall around. However September is often one of the hottest months here.
Lots of people out and about and a few garage sales in full swing.
Walked by my favorite neighborhood restaurant. Love their sign. Where else can you get a great great burger and a martini?

Click here to see a couple of the iPhone polaroids I took at the neighborhood market while walking.

Hope you all are out enjoying your walks.

Cynthia - California 10:30 - 11:24

My first walk and post for Creatively Fit. I'm thrilled to be a part of it. I will try to walk and post several times a week. I also try to dance around my kitchen every day, so doing both 7 days a week is too much for my schedule (and out of shape body). My dog Lola is thrilled that I am doing this. She thinks she's not getting nearly enough walks. One thing I really like about digital cameras (among so many things) is that you can switch between color and black and white so easily. When I was using film cameras I would carry two cameras - one for color slide film, one for black and white print film
A few years ago I noticed that a woman put an umbrella over her hydrangeas to protect them from the sun. Each year since then there seems to be more and more umbrellas protecting plants instead of people in the neighborhood.

In the second picture I liked how the bouquet of tulips inside the house on the window ledge picked up the color of the umbrella on the outside.

People outside walking their dogs, delivering their mail...I love photographing every day activities.
Today I carried my Canon XT with its 100mm macro lens.
I liked how the red on the stairs directed my eye over to the red flowers.
I'm a sucker for wicker and rocking chairs on a front porch.
A couple Victorian details on a house nearby and its gazebo in the garden.

Each day on my blog I post an iPhone Polaroid. Come by and see the ones I did today.
