One the way back to Tampa we stopped at the DeSoto Memorial.
Having lived in Spain for such a long time (haha, being more Spanish than German), knowing the Spanish history inside out I obviously wanted to see the region where DeSoto landed in 1539.
On the end I was so taken by the natural beauty and loving trees so much, we went onto the nature trail for more then 2h, however it turned in rather a leisurely walk. Some pictures out of the woods:

ok, rather the roots

S. called it a love tree,
being so intertwined and hugging

my first Gumbo tree, all amazing!
Learned they are called tourist trees too
stand in the sun, turn red and peel...

Love the trees with Spanish moss,
look like out of a wonderworld
or witnesses of a time gone by

driftwood makes me dream of
lands not seen

Did I mention I love palm trunks?
Have a great day around the world

You are certainly getting about. That looks a lovely walk with all those interesting trees. You have taken great shots.
Paula,
Beautiful photos! I especially love the driftwood shot. Fort Desoto Park is one of my favorite spots in Florida!
Enjoy Paradise!
