Taking you to a very old castle, well, rather a fortress from the 12 century. It is so large that exploring took hours and I grew tired doing my butt exercise.
OK, I restrict myself to just about 2200 years of history. LOL.
I am talking about a place 85km/55Miles South East from Munich, right at the Austrian border. Well, left side of river is Bavaria, right side of river is Austria. I am talking about a Celctic fortification, tribal lords fortress, a bastion for many counts and dukes over the centuries till 1200 it became the second home to the formerly ruling house of Wittelsbach.
The fortress of fortresses with a length of 1043m / 3458ft.
A fortress like many just incredibly large with an own lagoon- green lake and 5 courtyards each of them with own laws and jurisdiction!
Each courtyard was connected by a wooden draw-bridge and separated by moats...
Style of architecture: along these 3458ft all known styles of our European history seem to be present plus a witch tower, chambre of torture and stakes...(picture of a bit arty modern version of wooden pile)
Somehow it was fascinating walking through all these centuries, cramped in such a "small place", it was fascinating reading about all these people living there for centuries. Even nowadays in the former servants quarters people are living. Some of them can claim their ancestors working at the royal court some centuries ago. The stories are rich and dafty and told whenever someone shows interest.

Every year there is a huge festival of international reputation with a small "street of fame" -just a few pics I took there too

I couldnt make it to the lake and all the legends there so I hope you enjoyed being princess again :-)))
